Thermoworks Grate Clip

$7.49

Measure Temperature Where Your Food Actually Cooks.

The ThermoWorks Grate Clip is a heavy-duty stainless steel clip that mounts to your grill grate or oven rack and holds a temperature probe exactly 1 inch above the cooking surface. This gives you an accurate reading of the actual cooking temperature right where your food sits — not what the dome thermometer says (which can be 50°F or more off from grate level), and not what the oven sensor reports from a completely different part of the chamber.

Why this matters:

Dome thermometers on grills and smokers measure the temperature at the top of the cooking chamber — which is often significantly hotter than the temperature at grate level where your food actually sits. The Grate Clip solves that problem by positioning your probe right at the cooking surface, giving you the truth about what temperature your food is actually experiencing. It's also perfect for identifying hot and cold zones across your grill.

Key features:

  • Heavy-duty stainless steel: Built to last in high-heat environments
  • Positions probe 1" above cooking surface: Accurate grate-level temperature reading
  • Universal fit: Mounts to most grill grates and oven racks
  • Works with standard temperature probes: Included with the TX-1003X-AP Pro-Series Air Probe, or use with your own

Great for:

  • Smokers: Monitor the actual cooking temperature at grate level during long smokes
  • Grills: Identify hot and cold zones across your cooking surface
  • Ovens: Monitor oven temperature cycles during baking and roasting
  • Multi-zone cooking: Place clips in different zones to track temperature across the grill

Pro tips:

  • Your dome thermometer can read 25-75°F higher than the actual grate temperature — the Grate Clip shows you the real number
  • Use two clips in different zones to map your grill's hot spots — knowledge is power when it comes to heat management
  • Essential for low-and-slow smoking where maintaining a precise temperature range is critical
  • Pair with a ThermoWorks multi-channel thermometer for monitoring grate temp and meat temp simultaneously
